Cronos Europa proudly participated in the second edition of the Political Tech Summit in Berlin, which on 23–24 January 2026 brought together more than 900 participants and 200 speakers from across politics, tech, and civil society.

The challenge

The result

Throughout the summit, discussions explored how digital innovation is reshaping democratic participation, from tackling disinformation to creating new, more inclusive ways for citizens to engage in public decision-making.

As part of our presence in Berlin, we recorded a series of interviews with speakers to capture their perspectives and make key insights more accessible.

Our interview with Alina Schütze

In this conversation, we speak with Alina Schütze from Make.org Deutschland, part of a broader civic tech initiative dedicated to strengthening democratic participation at scale. Make.org develops digital platforms and methodologies that enable large numbers of citizens to contribute directly to public debate and policymaking, helping institutions better understand societal priorities and build collective, action-oriented outcomes.

Alina shares her perspective on the growing role of artificial intelligence in democratic processes. While she sees AI becoming a fundamental part of how public institutions operate, she also highlights that its adoption will take time, particularly due to the need for stronger safeguards and regulation. In her view, ongoing efforts at the European level are an important step toward creating the trust and framework needed for wider use.

She also emphasises the importance of AI literacy and the role participatory platforms can play in this process, not only by informing citizens, but by allowing them to experience AI in a positive and meaningful way, contributing to the common good.

Our interview series from Berlin offers a preview of the discussions and ideas that will continue to shape Europe’s political communication landscape this year — and we are pleased to share them.
